A few days before I launched this blog, I had gotten dinner at a Chinese fast-food franchise.  The cashier lady gave me two fortune cookies with my meal.  After eating, I opened both of them (asking, as I did so, for guidance about the idea of starting a blog).  Here’s what they said:

BE ASSERTIVE AND YOU WILL WIN

ASSERT YOURSELF, YOUR IDEAS ARE WORTHWHILE

I was amazed that they both contained the word assert and both said the same thing in only slightly different ways.  What were the odds?

I took it as a sign — that it was indeed time to start this blog.
